I started out as a drummer. I used to beat on my body 'till it was sore and then I found the groove. I suppose my first gigs were playing X-mas carols with my sister Alice on accordian at get togethers with my cousins. My parents bought me a Fender Mustang and a Tremolux amp for my 15th b-day.I was so excited because everyone that I knew only had Harmony and Silvertone guitars. I remember some high school dances with 'White Phaze' my first R&R band. We had a picture of a mime on our poster. When I got to college I started collecting and posing with guitars and have never really stopped. If only I would have kept that '64 Tele' with a Bigsby, worth big bucks today, I'm sure. College days brought "Birnam Wood". It was a band that I grew up in, and formed lifelong friendships. It also taught me that I could follow a different path, and succeed at it. This attitude, I believe, has pretty much influenced everything I have done in life, especially having the desire to become an artist (Loess Hills Pottery). Actually it is my passion for music that has fullfilled my life for as long as i can remember, from creating to performing, from listening to analyzing, it has always been the key to my personal happiness. So, after college I moved to Castana, Ia, set up Loess Hills Pottery, and played in numerous local bands, including 'Beat Crazy' and the Loess Hills Blues Band, plus others from the last ten years that are chronicled on my 'personal music' page.
